Richard "Gene" Eugene Wilson
Richard "Gene" Eugene Wilson, age 82, a resident of Trenton, Missouri, went to meet Jesus on Monday, June 15, 2020, at his residence.
Gene was born the son of Garland Ronald and Viola Louise (Boylan) Wilson as an answer to prayer on October 11, 1937, in Grundy County, Missouri. He was a 1956 graduate and salutatorian of Princeton High School. Gene served in the United States Army, and was attached to the Corps of Engineers and the Strategic Airlift Command through his time in the Armed Forces. He was united in marriage to Donna May Arney on December 31, 1960, in Mercer, Missouri. She survives of the home. Gene worked as a contractor for many years. He served as a pastor for 45 years, most recently at The Open Door Church in Trenton, Missouri, where he was also a member. Gene was also a member of the International Christian Fellowship, where he served as the Missouri State Presbyter, and was also a member of the Full Gospel Businessmen of the Northern Fellowship. Throughout Gene's life, he enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
His surviving family includes his wife, Donna Wilson of the home; two sons, Walter Wilson and wife Janelle of Trenton, Missouri, William "Bill" Wilson and wife Kendra of Trenton, Missouri; four daughters, Ilishia Slater and husband David of Trenton, Missouri, Lillian "Lilly" Dryer and husband Gary of Trenton, Missouri, Deborah Hardy and husband Russell of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Naomi Meinecke and husband Timothy of Trenton, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Michael Slater, Phillip Slater, Matthew Slater, Sarah Dryer, Johnathan Dryer, Kristopher Wilson, Krista Wilson, Hannah Hardy and Julia Hardy; as well as two great grandchildren, Carter Slater and Clay Slater. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Sydney Wilson.
Graveside services will be held at Payne Cemetery, Modena, Missouri, on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation.
