Richard Kirk Deardorff Richard Kirk Deardorff, age 88, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, former resident of Hale, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at his residence. Richard was born near Hale, Missouri on July 13, 1926, the son of Earl and Lena (Plummer) Deardorff. He grew up on a farm near Hale, Missouri and graduated from Hale High School in 1945. Richard served in the United States Army Air Force from 1945 until 1946. In 1949 he met and married Betty Guilford. She survives of the home. They farmed for many years. At retirement they moved to Chillicothe, Missouri, where he worked six years as a motel maintenance man until failing health. He was a member of the Hale United Methodist Church, board member for the Hale School District, VFW Post # 3464, and the American Legion Vern R. Glick Post #25 of Chillicothe. Richard enjoyed good friends, good neighbors, and being there when someone needed help. Survivors include wife Betty Deardorff of the home; and two sons, James R. Deardorff of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Kirby W. Deardorff and wife Diana of Chillicothe, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Robert Deardorff; and brother-in-law Ralph Guilford. A memorial service will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, December 29, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, one hour prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, December 28, 2014, from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Hale Memorial Gardens, Hale, Missouri, at 11:30 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014.
