Raymond Derrell Baker

Raymond "Derrell" Baker Raymond "Derrell" Baker, age 86, a Hale resident, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017 at Pioneer Nursing Home, Marceline, Missouri. Derrell was born October 20, 1930, in Brookfield, Missouri, the son of Joseph Kenneth and Katherine (Conger) Baker. He was a 1950 graduate of Hale High School. He served in the Marine Corps from 1952-1954. On August 6, 1955, Derrell was united in marriage to Evelyn McMullin. To this union two children were born, Reve' and Bruce. He was a farmer who raised field crops and livestock. He enjoyed his cattle and riding his saddle horse to check on them in the pasture. Derrell enjoyed helping his children with their 4-H livestock. He served on the Livingston County Fair Board for several years. He also served a number of years on the PWSD #3 board, many of those years were served as the President of the Board. He was a member of the Vern Glick Post 25 American Legion and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was always ready for family get togethers when he could see his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also looked forward to dinners with the Conger cousins. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn, Hale, Missouri; daughter Reve' (Frank) Coleman, Marshall, Missouri; son Bruce (Cheri) Baker, Kearney, Missouri; grandchildren Amber Coleman, Bucky (Erica) Coleman and Ashley Baker; great-grandchildren Averi, Kolby, Will, Evie, Jakson and Trinity; a sister, Dylis Hensley, Hale, Missouri; eight nieces, several great nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kenny, a sister-in-law, Stella Baker, a brother-in-law, Wayne Hensley, and a brother-in-law and sister- in- law, Gene and Mary Jo McMullin. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, at 11:00 AM. There will be a scheduled visitation one hour before service at 10:00 AM at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri. Friends may call Tuesday, October 17, 2017, from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri.   Burial will follow at the Cameron Cemetery, Hale, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hale United Methodist Church or the Hale R-1 Athletic Department.
