Raymah Lee Alkire, age 88, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. Raymah was born the daughter of George W. and Nora Mae (Losh) Hess on July 31, 1923, in Linn County, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Clifton Alkire on June 18, 1945, in Atwood, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1968. Raymah previously lived in the Laredo and Haseville communities before moving to Chillicothe in 1970. She was a member of the Haseville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing craft projects and loved to crochet, especially creating beautiful table top displays. Survivors include one son, Jim Alkire and wife Judy of Dawn, Missouri; three daughters, Linda Hopper of Tina, Missouri, Judy Rose and husband Stewart of Bogard, Missouri, and Pat Adams and husband Chad of Chillicothe, Missouri; one brother, George Hess and wife Shirley of Chillicothe, Missouri; one sister, Betty Furlong of Chillicothe, Missouri; ten grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clifton Alkire; son Michael Alkire; four brothers, Earl Hess, Merle Hess, Forrest "Bud" Hess, and Samuel Hess; and three sisters, Okie Todd, Imogene Newman, and Mary Francis Sallee. Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. A family visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, May 28, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call the Lindley Funeral Home on Monday, May 28, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Burial will be held in Haseville Cemetery, Humphreys, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Haseville Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
