Ray "Red" Schmidt Ray "Red" Schmidt, age 88, a resident of Trenton, Missouri, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014, at Indian Hills Retirement Village, Chillicothe, Missouri. Ray was born the son of Henry and Pearl (Broyles) Schmidt on December 31, 1925 in Laredo, Missouri. He attended Laredo schools. Ray spent all of his life in the Laredo and Trenton areas. On August 15, 1953, on the farm near Laredo, Missouri, he married Elaine Kelso. She preceded him in death on April 28, 2011. Ray worked as a dairy farmer all of his life. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Survivors include two sons Larry Schmidt and wife Carolyn of Laredo, Missouri, and Mark Schmidt and wife Carol of Chillicothe, Missouri; four grandchildren, Ashley Anne Bardwell and husband Caleb of Hamilton, Missouri, Megan Michele Peters and husband Brad of Clinton, Iowa, Emily Elizabeth Schmidt of Trenton, Missouri, and Jarek Chay Schmidt of Chillicothe, Missouri; one sister-in-law Dorene Schmidt of Trenton, Missouri; two nephews Jerry Schmidt and wife Nancy of Amesbury, Massachusetts, and Gary Schmidt of Trenton, Missouri; and one niece Linda Singleton and husband Stacy of Brookfield, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Elaine Schmidt; and two brothers Gerald and Robert Schmidt. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home Laredo, Missouri. A scheduled family visitation will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Laredo, Missouri. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Laredo, Missouri, on Monday, June 23, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Stucker Cemetery, Laredo, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stucker Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to the Lindley Funeral Home P.O. Box 47 Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
