Phyllis Madeline Johnson

May 26, 1927 — December 25, 2011

Phyllis Madeline Johnson Phyllis Madeline Johnson of Ponca City, Oklahoma, went into the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on December 25, 2011, at the home of her daughter, Allegra Harney. Madeline was born May 26, 1927, in Braymer, Missouri, to Joy and Ello Johnson. She was a 1945 graduate of Braymer C-4 High School. She was an amazing mother to her three children, Carol, Allegra, and Joy, and 2 stepsons Roger and Wayne. She married Jack Lyons in 1947, who passed away in 1950. In 1953, she married Wayne Johnson, who was a wonderful stepfather to each child. They lived in Braymer until 1996, at which time they moved with friend, Dr. Jerry Wiper to Ponca City, Oklahoma. Dr. Wiper had made his home with them since 1984. He died in 1998. Madeline had worked for Dr. Wiper for 28 years previous to the illness that forced him to retire. She was also preceded in death by her parents, children Carol, Joy, Roger, and Wayne, three brothers, and one nephew. She is survived by one daughter, Allegra Harney; grandchildren, Ronda Higgins, Jackie Sage, Joshua and Mary Beth Barth, Kevin and Wendy Adkison, Krystal Stover, Chris and Carmen Lyons, and Bryan and Jessica Lyons. She is also survived by fifteen great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren, as well as beloved nieces, nephews and many friends and adopted families. Her life was spent loving and caring for her children, family, and friends. She accepted Christ at the age of 11 years and was a member of the Braymer Baptist Church until she transferred that membership to the Osage Heights Baptist Church in Ponca City in 1996. After her health failed, where she could no longer attend her church, family remained close in love and support, as did Crestview Baptist in Ponca City. She put God first in her life and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her. With the deepest respect and appreciation to North Central Hospice, 1904 N. Union, Ponca City, Oklahoma, thru her long battle with heart failure, the family request contributions be made to them in lieu of flowers or the charity of your choice. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Friday, December 30, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeremy Dunlap officiating. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call the Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Thursday, December 29, 2011, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be left at or mailed to Pitts Funeral Home, P.O.
