Paul Lawrence Yardley, age 88, a resident of Marceline Missouri, formally of Dawn, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, Missouri. Paul was born on November 4, 1922, in Milan, Missouri, the son of William Lester and Anna Frances (McCaffery) Yardley. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of Merrill's Marauders. On October 4, 1946, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Ann Hubl in Hastings, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on April 11, 1997. Paul was a life member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed going to antique car shows, Merrill's Marauders Reunions, and spending time with his family. Survivors include wife Clara "Jo" Yardley of Marceline, Missouri; two sons Gary Yardley of Scandia, Kansas, and Roger Yardley of Eudora, Kansas; three daughters Pam Hamil of North Kansas City, Missouri, Vickie Griffith of Dawn, Missouri, and Patty Anderson of Cameron, Missouri; one sister Mary Newman of Huntsville, Alabama; also several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Dorothy, and brothers Joe Yardley, Bill Yardley, Hugo Yardley, and two grandsons Patrick and Ryan Anderson. Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. A Parish Rosary will be held at Lindley Funeral Home on Friday, April 8, 2011 at5:00 p.m. with family visitation to follow. Friends may call the funeral home on Friday from noon until 9 p.m. Burial will be held in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri.
