Patricia Jean North

Patricia Jean North Patricia Jean North, age 92, a resident of Ocala, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Ocala Oaks Rehabilitation, Ocala, Florida. Patricia was born the daughter of Frank and Gladys (Shriner) Howes on January 21, 1926, in Osceola, Arkansas. She was a 1943 graduate of Dawn High School. She attended Missouri Western State University, St. Joseph, Missouri, graduating with her Bachelor's degree in Journalism and History. Patricia was united in marriage to Charles James North on November 2, 1945, in Brookfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 10, 1976. Patricia and CJ North owned and operated the Purcell Mercantile Company in Dawn. She worked for the Chillicothe CPA firm Harden, Cummins, Moss & Miller. Patricia was a secretary at the Missouri School for Girls in Chillicothe. She also worked as a Bank Officer for Commerce Bank in St. Joseph, Missouri, for many years. She was a member the Dawn Federated Church, Dawn, Missouri, where she served as pianist and organist. She was active in the Unity Church of Whidbey Island, Washington. Patricia was also a member of Toastmasters International. She was a volunteer for R.S.V.P. in Chillicothe, Missouri, where she served as the Secretary. She also volunteered at the Savannah, Missouri, Food Bank, as well as the Dawn Community Improvement Association. Patricia enjoyed writing articles, poetry, and history, and was the Dawn correspondent for the Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune for many years. Survivors include one son, Grady North and wife Teresa of Ocala, Florida; one daughter, Carolyn North of Clinton, New York; and one grandchild, Sean Paul North of Allen, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; one sister, Elizabeth Ewen and husband Dudley B. Ewen; one brother, Randall Howes; and longtime companion, Lyle Oder. A graveside service will be held at Welsh Cemetery, Dawn, Missouri, on Friday, February 2, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, February 1, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, February 1, 2018, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and/or the Unity Church on Whidbey Island in Langley, Washington, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
