Patricia Irene Meek Patricia Irene Meek, age 78, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at her residence. She was born in rural Soldier, Kansas on July 19, 1933, to George C. and Cora Belle (Schantz) Thompson. She moved with her parents to Gilman City, Missouri. She graduated from Gilman City High School in 1951, and then attended Chillicothe Business College for a certificate in bookkeeping. She accepted a position with Skelly Oil Company in Kansas City, where she was employed until 1957, when she married Charles L. Meek. They moved to Chillicothe in 1959, where Charles was employed by Chillicothe High School, and Patricia was employed by Chillicothe State Bank. Patricia was very active in Girl Scout activities for several years, serving as a leader and as neighborhood chair person. In later years she developed a Mother Goose program, complete with costume and delighted in reading nursery rhymes to the elementary students in the Chillicothe School District, as well as in several area schools. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Sherie (Dale) Pepper of Newnan, Georgia, Cindy Glidewell of St. Joseph, Missouri, Melanie (Randy) Mathews of Colorado Springs, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Matthew and Jennifer Glidewell, Andrew, Kaitlin and Abigail Pepper, and Kayla and Ryan Mathews; one brother Lawrence (Betty) Thompson of New Mexico, Missouri; a favorite niece Brenda (Dean) Fletcher; and nephew Bruce (Karen) Welliever of Kansas; Mark Thompson of Colorado, Sheila Grapes of North Carolina, and Bert Thompson of St. Joseph, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Damon in infancy; a sister Helen Welliever; two brothers, Martin in infancy and Elbert Thompson. She was an active member of the Chillicothe United Methodist Church, a Circle Member, and the Culture Club. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, February 17, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. A family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, February 16, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, February 16, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Burial will be held in Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
