Oran Taylor Casebeer of 3888 W. Covert Rd, Interlaken, N.Y., went into the presence of the Lord on May 8, 2022, at the age of 100. Oran was born in New Franklin, MO. on September 12, 1921, the third child and son of seven children to Raymond Stanton and Harriet Lou (Hooker) Casebeer, orchard farmers, who later relocated the family homestead to Waverly, MO.Oran was a graduate of Waverly High School and completed two years of study at Missouri Valley College. Oran graduated from Fairfax Aviation School and was employed by Consolidated Aircraft of San Diego, CA in final assembly and shake-down on B-24 Liberator bombers.Oran enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant at Yale University as a flight engineer on B-29's. Oran was honorably separated from military service in December 1945, in which he resumed his college studies and graduated from Missouri University (BA-May of 1947).Oran taught Engineering Physics at Sampson College, Sampson, N.Y. (1947-1948). While at Sampson College he met, courted, and married Ruth Elizabeth Wilcox (d. Jan.14, 2012), a petite, attractive, and established hairdresser in Interlaken, N.Y.Oran taught High School Science (Physics) at Romulus Central School (1950-1959). While teaching at Romulus, Oran was awarded a National Science Foundation Scholarship for a year of study at Syracuse University in advanced mathematics, physics, and chemistry (MS degree).Oran was employed as a physicist, in research and development at Eastman Kodak and ended his career by retired from Eastman Kodak, Rochester, N.Y. (1962-1986).Oran was a devoted Christian, an active member of Gideons International Ithaca Camp, and passionately believed in spreading the Word of God (2 Timothy 4:7).In addition to his parents, Oran was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Ruth E. (Wilcox) Casebeer; his two sisters Mary Ruth (Casebeer) Nelson and Margaret E. Casebeer; his four brothers David H. Casebeer, Lawrence E. Casebeer, John S. Casebeer, and Charles R. Casebeer.Oran is survived by his daughter Amy Lynn (Robert M. Thompson) Saavedra of Interlaken, N.Y., and loyal family companion, Merlin.Honoring Oran's wishes there will be no memorial services.
