Olive M. Tushaus Olive M. Tushaus, 81, formerly of Prairie Village, KS, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Clare Bridge, Leawood, Kansas. Mrs. Tushaus was born June 4, 1932, in St. Catherine, MO, the first child of Harry and Stella (Manning) Lauhoff. After graduating from high school, Olive worked for Lockheed Martin in Los Angeles, CA. She moved back to the Kansas City area and spent 41 years at the law firm Lathrop Gage, beginning her career as a legal secretary and acting as the form's personnel director during her last five years there. She cherished the firm and the relationships she developed over the years and was intensely proud of her association with it. Olive was determined and competent in everything she did. She accepted and mastered the responsibility of raising two sons alone, at a time when much less was expected. The proof of her success is witnessed by her six wonderful grandchildren who loved her dearly and to whose development, like anything she applied herself to, she warmly contributed. Olive's Catholic faith never faltered and sustained her throughout her life. She laughed and prayed equally well, understanding that God wished both for her. After retiring in 1998, Olive enjoyed an active life as a member of St Ann Catholic Church. She traveled widely, gave of herself charitably, and spoiled her grandchildren wisely. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Lauhoff. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law; Kirk and Marianne Tushaus, Scottsdale, AZ; son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Julie Tushaus, Leawood, KS; grandchildren; Chase and Blair Tushaus and Kyle, Jeffrey, Courtney, and Kathleen Tushaus. The family would like to thank the staff of Clare Bridge of Leawood and Brookdale Hospice for their gentle, patient, and loving care given to Olive. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013, at St. Columban's Catholic Church, 1111 Trenton St, Chillicothe, MO 64601. A Parish Rosary will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, October 4, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. with a family visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, October 4, 2013, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at St. Columban's Catholic Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bishop Miege High School in Roeland Park, Kansas, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
