Norma Lea Gilgour
Norma Lea Gilgour, age 84, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019, at St. Luke's Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.
Norma was born the daughter of Loren and Daisy (Watson) Morrill on February 23, 1935, in Gallatin, Missouri. She had five siblings. She was united in marriage to Gene "Churn" Gilgour on June 20, 1952, in Jamesport, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 13, 1994. Norma and Gene raised four children on the farm outside of Hamilton, where they loved to walk the fields and the woods. Norma owned and operated The Bridal Lane in Hamilton for over 10 years.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Norma during her 84 years; among them: music soothes the soul and heals the heart. Norma had a strong love of country music. She loved to dance, sing, and listen to live country music. She also loved to share her knowledge of sewing, cooking, and gardening as she volunteered as a 4-H community leader and project leader for over 24 years.
Norma was very proud of her four children, eight grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren. Survivors include four children, Lynn Paulsen and husband Jeff of Avoca, Iowa, Connie Mogg and husband Steve of Hamilton, Missouri, Candy Vaught and husband Gary Williams of Estes Park, Colorado, and Bret Gilgour of Gresham, Oregon; eight grandchildren, Lance and Brad Carey, Amber Cathey and Colin Mogg, Nick and Adam Edwards, and Britain Gilgour and Brynnan Foster; nineteen great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Morrill of Breckenridge, Missouri; one sister, Jana Potter and husband Carl of Molalla, Oregon; sister-in-law, Sissy Horton of Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family, and many in-laws, too numerous to list, but not forgotten. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Carol Rich and Billie Parks; one brother, Rex Morrill; brothers-in-law, Norman Rich and Dale Parks; and sister-in-law, Barbara Morrill.
