Norma Jean Boude, age 71, of Chillicothe, passed away on July 30, 2022, at The University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.
Norma was born on June 11, 1951 to Simon Thomas and Dorothy Hazel (Watts) Boude of Chillicothe. She was the eighth child in a family of nine. Norma underwent a liver and kidney transplant in 2013 and suffered many health issues in the years to follow.
During her lifetime she worked in several different types of jobs with her favorites being in disabled children's care homes and nursing homes. She was always happy to help others who were in need if she was able to do so. She worked in the early years of telemarketing and enjoyed talking to people who seemed to need a sympathetic ear.
Norma loved to sing and play the piano. She was a self-taught musician who learned to play on her mother's electric organ. She was saved and baptized as a young girl at the First Baptist Church of Chillicothe, attended Chillicothe Schools, and spent most of her life in the Chillicothe area.
Survivors include three sons, Terry, Troy and Mark Harper; one daughter, Samantha Butner; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and three sisters - Bonnie (Ray) Mitchell of Chillicothe, Judy Mills of Big Spring, Texas and Pearl (Jesse) King of Platte City, Missouri; special foster sister, Betty Breeden of Chillicothe, Missouri; and lifelong friends Gene Harper and Sandra Allen Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jerry Harper, three sisters, Mary Ellen Paschal, Wanda Sams and Ruby Lamp, and two brothers, Howard Boude and Herbert Boude.
Inurnment services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri, On Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. There is no scheduled visitation.
