Nancy Rae Rutter
Nancy Rae Rutter, age 80, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019, in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
Nancy was born the daughter of Rayburn and Kathryn (Cooper) Tolen on July 20, 1938, in Lock Springs, Missouri. She was a 1956 graduate of Gallatin High School. She was united in marriage to Larry Rutter on November 5, 1973. Nancy was a homemaker and enjoyed painting china, sewing, and cooking. She traveled to all fifty states. Out of all the places she ever visited, Dog Island, Florida, and the Kingdom of Tonga were her favorite. Nancy expressed her support for service members by sending them letters. She was a donor and supporter of the Cultural Corner Art Guild. She was also an active member of the First Baptist Church and was a tour guide for the Sunnybrook RV tours.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Rutter; one son, William Shannon Grove and wife Jane of Oxford, Florida; two daughters, Jacquelyn Edmisson of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Julie Atkins and husband David of Lee's Summit, Missouri; one stepdaughter, Monica Kroupa and husband Joe of Wisconsin; two brothers, Ronald Tolen and wife Ana of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Don Tolen and wife Vickie of Jamesport, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren, Jason Atkins, Joshua Atkins, Thomas Yount, Tiffany Winfrey, Alina Grove, Jefferson Grove, Audrey Edmisson, Staci Grove, Serenity Lambert, Kyle Grove, Alex Grove, Leryn Williams, Ely Swanson, Koree Morgan, Chad Rutter; thirteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three stepchildren, Gary Rutter, Craig Rutter, and Cheryl Rutter.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, March 28, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
