Michael Thomas Michael Thomas, age 71, a resident of Chula, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at Mosaic Life Care Center, St. Joseph, Missouri. Michael was born the son of Charles O. and Margaret O. (Arnett) Thomas on July 25, 1946, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was a 1964 graduate of Easton High School, Easton, Missouri. He then attended St. Joseph Community College, until he joined the United States Air Force, then the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Winnie "Jo" Alice Rogers on February 21, 1968, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She preceded him in death on June 23, 1987. Michael worked as a corrections officer for the Missouri Department of Corrections in Cameron, Missouri, St. Joseph, Missouri, and Moberly, Missouri. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1000 of Jefferson City, Missouri. Survivors include one son, Wesley Oscar Thomas and wife Joanie of St. Joseph, Missouri; one daughter, Margie Ann Thomas of Chula, Missouri; one grandchild, John Charles Thomas; one brother, Daniel Thomas of Enid, Oklahoma; three sisters, Rose Marie Thomas of Cameron, Missouri, Patricia Weese of Maysville, Missouri, and Bonnie Neal of Weatherby, Missouri; and his black lab, Sadie. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Winnie; and one sister, Peggy Bradford. Graveside services will be held at the Freeman Kerns Cemetery, Stewartsville, Missouri, on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael Thomas Memorial Fund and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
