Merle Allen Young Merle Young, age 83, a resident of Meadville, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia, Missouri. Merle was born the son of Allen and Sarah (Allen) Young on August 24, 1930, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He was a 1948 Meadville High School graduate, Meadville, Missouri. Merle was a self-employed truck driver for 26 years. He also worked as a school bus driver for Meadville R-IV School District for 30 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. He enjoyed traveling and had traveled to all 50 states and driven 3 million miles. He especially enjoyed classic cars and owned several classic cars including the JFK Presidential Car, a 1962 Lincoln Continental, the Eisenhower Car a 1956 Chrysler Imperial, and Howard Hughes car, a 1964 Chrysler New Yorker. Survivors include good friend Lela Jackson of Chillicothe, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Marie Leppin. Services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home on Friday, May 9, 2014, from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Meadville Cemetery, Meadville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Meadville R-IV School District and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
