Melvin Lavern White Melvin Lavern White, age 90, resident of Hamilton, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the Missouri Veterans' Home, in Cameron, Missouri. Melvin was born the son of Lewis and Anna (Barber) White on January 13, 1921 in Jameson, Missouri. On March 20, 1939 Melvin married Lola Myers in Gallatin, Missouri. She preceded him in death on August 14, 1996. He was a farmer and worked for the Soo Line Railway and Milwaukee Railway from 1969 to 1987. Melvin was a former member of American Legion, Boutwell - Clark - Craven - Eads Post 285, Hamilton, Missouri; and a former member of the VFW, Hamilton Post. He was a member of the Railroad Union, Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way, Kansas City. Melvin is survived by his sons Larry White and wife Mary of Chillicothe, Missouri, Dennis White and wife Nancy of Gower, Missouri; daughter Karen White of Grand Island, Nebraska; sister Christine George; eleven grandchildren, thirty one great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded by his parents, infant son Melvin Jr. and two sisters Freda and Roslie. A memorial graveside service will be held at Coffey Cemetery, Coffey, Missouri on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation.
