Maude Edith Sowder

April 12, 1915 — October 12, 2013

Maude Edith Marshall Sowder Maude Edith Sowder, age 98, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at her residence. Maude was born April 12, 1915 in Greene County, Tennessee. Maude, her husband Ralph, and seven of their nine children moved to Missouri in the early 1950's, with Chillicothe being her longtime residence. Maude was the only child of the late Charles McLain and Ella Adams. Maude was the last living relative of thirty-three cousins of her generation. Oh, the "Welcome Home' she did receive! She leaves to cherish her memory, four sons, Rex Marshall and wife Mary Ellen of Chillicothe, Missouri, Jimmy Marshall of Chillicothe, Missouri, Vinson Marshall and wife Frida of Fort Worth, Texas, and Carl Marshall and wife Sylvia of Van Horn, Texas; two daughters, Lois Adams and husband Fred of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and Eloise Prindle of Osage Beach, Missouri; twenty-four grandchildren; forty-seven great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. She was also survived by one devoted niece Debra Acree and husband Cliff; nephew, Otis Hundley and wife Judy of Chillicothe, Missouri; and two loving special friends, Linda and Jackie. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Ralph Marshall; husband, Everett Sowder; one son, Wayne Marshall; and two daughters, Lenice Kathleen Cashatt and Helen Elizabeth Reger. Maude loved life, her family and friends. She loved her vegetable garden. Even in her last years of life, she wanted a garden so she could hoe the ground and plant her tomatoes and beans. Her hard work provided many vegetable dishes throughout the years for her family. In her earlier years, Maude was an active member of the Assembly of God Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. In her later years, she was a member of the Soul's Harbor Church of God, Chillicothe, Missouri. She loved her Bible studies and good gospel music, especially Bluegrass music from her native Tennessee Hills. Maude's smile and sense of humor provided much gaiety for all who knew and loved her. Be strong and of good courage family and friends for we walk in the wilderness today and in the Promise Land tomorrow, where we will be joined with our loved ones forever. To God be the Glory forever and ever. Funeral services will be held at the Soul's Harbor Church of God, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, October 14, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. There is no scheduled family visitation.
