Mary Helen Hoyt, age 90, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri passed away at her residence on Sunday, November 7, 2010. She was born daughter of Carl Barnhart and Fleeta Huffman on January 10, 1920 in Avalon, Missouri. She was a 1937 graduate from Chillicothe High School in Chillicothe, Missouri. On August 31, 1938, she married Bill Hoyt in Chillicothe, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1999. Helen spent all of her life in Livingston County, especially areas Blue mound, Dawn, and Avalon. She was a member of the Blue Mound Christian church, and she was very active in singing and instrumental in the church. She was active in the WOW club, the Livingston County Women's Democratic Club, and the Livingston County American Cancer Society. She is survived by one son, Warren and wife Debbie Hoyt of Dawn, Missouri; one daughter, Jane and husband Arnold Shipp of St. Joseph, Missouri; one sister, Norma Johnson of Breckenridge, Missouri; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Lea Jones, one brother, Howard Barnhart, and one great grandson, Austin Shipp. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe, Missouri on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. There will be a scheduled family visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Helen's memory may be made to the Blue Mound cemetery and may be left at the Funeral Home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
