Mary Marguretta Foster, age 83, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri passed away at Indian Hills Nursing Home in Chillicothe,Missouri on Monday, February 8, 2010. Mary Marguretta Foster was born September 12, 1926 at the home place of James and Dollie Foster, which was near Lock Springs, Missouri. (She has always been known as Marguretta). This happened to be a stormy night and her older brother Ren had to take the horse and go for the doctor. Even though she had very dark hair her sister Juanita insisted they call her Goldilocks. Juanita was three years old. Marguretta was very ill several times during her first years. She joined the Presbyterian Church in Lock Springs, Missouri on July 29, 1944. She attended a country school in Livingston County, Missouri which was called the Brookshire School. She attended high school in Lock Springs, Missouri and graduated from there in 1944. In 1952 she went to South Dakota to help Juanita take care of her nephew James Williams and again in 1955 to help care for Joe Williams. It was at this time she decided to go home before she had planned because of feeling that she was needed at home. Her father died a few months after she returned home in December 1955. Marguretta and her mother stayed on the farm until 1959. At that time they bought a house in Chillicothe, Missouri and moved to town. In the spring of 1960 Marguretta went to work at the Leeper Hotel, after working there for ten years she quit and went to work at the Darr Nursing Home. She worked there for seven and half years at which time she had to quit as her mother had to have full time care. Marguretta was so thankful she had taken Nurses Aid Training and was able to take care of her. In the fall of 1981 Marguretta's sister, Eleanor moved from Des Moines, Iowa to be near and able to help with the care of their mother. Her mother passed away December 1983 and Marguretta continued to live at the home place at 427 Clay Street. In June 2001Marguretta moved to Indian Hills Nursing Home in Chillicothe, Missouri as her doctor said she should not stay alone. In September she sold her house on Clay Street and became a permanent resident of Indian Hills Nursing Home. Marguretta loved her family, two brothers, Ren and Roger; two sisters, Eleanor and Juanita. Ren Foster passed away October 1995. Her niece Lila Gehner; nephews, Robert Foster, Jim Williams, and Joe Williams; two great nieces, Melissa Gehner, Nichole Williams; six great nephews, Rick Gehner, Mike, David, Dan, Joshua, Jake Williams; two great great nieces, Kiearra Nicole Williams, and Michelle Gehner. Her dear friends, Dave and Lynn St. Clair were like and extension of her family, they watched over her and always ready to help. Services will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe, Missouri at 11:00 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lock Springs Cemetery in Lock Springs, Missouri.
