Mary Elizabeth DeVaul Mary Elizabeth DeVaul, age 91, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017, at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri. Mary was born the second child of James R. and Elizabeth (Burtch) DeVaul on November 24, 1925, in Wheeling, Missouri. She grew up in Wheeling, Mo. and was a 1944 graduate of Wheeling High School. She taught third grade for a few years in Livingston County. In the late 40's she moved to the Kansas City area. She resided most of her life in Independence, Missouri and worked for Hallmark cards in Quality Control for 37 years. Mary resided at Morningside Center Assisted Living for the past 3 yrs. Mary was a member of the Eversonville Baptist Church as a child and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Independence, MO for many years. Mary's favorite past time included playing with ALL of her nieces and nephews and she traveled extensively through-out the United States (including Hawaii), Europe and other places, such as, China, Australia, Ireland, Mexico, The Bahamas, The Caribbean and Egypt with a close friend. She also had a cabin on the lake at Warsaw that she enjoyed staying at. Mary is survived by two sisters, Linda L. Kimmis of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Sandra S. Gallentine of Luck, Wisconsin; one brother, Robert James DeVaul Jr. of Mesa, Arizona; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews all of which she was very fond of. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William B. DeVaul; three sisters, Bonnie Mae Poolman, Vera M. Hughes and Julia Ann Doss; and niece, Kathy Kae Kimmis. Funeral services will be held on Monday September 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home Chillicothe, Missouri. A scheduled visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home Chillicothe, Missouri on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Wheeling Cemetery Wheeling, Missouri.
