Mary Sue (Cunningham) Davis Mary Sue (Cunningham) Davis, age 93, a resident of Norborne, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at NorthCare Hospice House, North Kansas City, Missouri. Mary Sue was born the daughter of Bessie Cunningham on May 5, 1922, in Independence, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Emmett Clifford Davis on December 27, 1938. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1978. Mary and Emmett owned and operated Davis Grocery in Roads for 30 years. She was a lifelong resident of the Roads Community. Mary Sue was a lifelong member of Union Baptist Church, Rural Norborne, Missouri. She was a volunteer with Salvation Army and H.E.L.P. Services. She worked at Bryant's Restaurant in Carrollton, Missouri, for 25 years. She enjoyed working in her garden, walking and canning. Survivors include one son, Gary Lee Davis and wife Trudy of Kansas City, Missouri; one son-in-law, Russ Kunza of Norborne, Missouri; seven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Emmett; and two daughters, Joyce Allwood and Lois Jean O'Dell. A special thanks to Lisa Hawkins her caregiver for the past two and a half years. Funeral services will be held at the Union Baptist Church, Rural Norborne, Missouri, on Monday, June 8, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Union Baptist Church, Rural Norborne, Missouri, on Monday, June 8, 2015, one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Sunday, June 7, 2015, from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Baptist Church and/or H.E.L.P. Services and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
