Martin Shain Laffey Martin Laffey, age 54, a resident of China, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at his residence. Martin was born the son of Fred and Joyce (Parker) Laffey on February 27, 1960, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He graduated from Chillicothe High School, Chillicothe, Missouri, in 1978. Martin owned and operated DDPS. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, and was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed playing in bowling leagues and playing in golf tournaments. Marty loved the country life, he enjoyed going to the river and barbequing with his brother Mitch. Marty was always happy and lived life to the fullest. Survivors include his parents, Fred and Joyce Laffey of St. Joseph, Missouri; one daughter, Alyssa Walsh and husband Joseph Walsh of Independence, Missouri; one son, Shain Laffey and fiancé Megan Anderson of Independence, Missouri; one brother Mitchell Laffey of Raytown, Missouri; Three sisters Melissa Huff and husband Tim of Kearney, Missouri, and Michelle Lechner and husband Ernie of Union, Nebraska, Kasha Laffey of St Joseph, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Lawrence and Florence Parker and paternal grandparents Fred and Esther Laffey. Services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, May 12, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Garden, Chillicothe, Missouri.
