Martha Swain Conrad

Martha Katherine Swain Conrad Peo, age 92, surrounded by her family, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 24, 2011, in Lakeland, Florida, due to natural causes. She was born May 15, 1918, in Ogden, Iowa, the daughter of George and Viola (Robbins) Rans. Martha was united in marriage to Verne Swain on December 16, 1936, and they had two children, Joan VanDyke and Marva Peck. After the death of Verne in 1996, she married John Conrad in 2000. After John's death in 2007, she was married to Robert Peo on April 17, 2010. She was raised and lived of farms in Iowa and Missouri. They made Florida their winter home in 1967, moving permanently to Lakeland in 1990. She was well known for her crafts, ceramics, turtles and cinnamon rolls. She always had a helping heart. Survivors include her husband Robert Peo of Lakeland, Florida; daughter Marva Peck and husband Arlie of Lakeland, Florida; four grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Verne and John, daughter Joan VanDyke, grandson Kevin Peck and great grandson Kian Peck, as well as five brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, March 4, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, February 3, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friends may call the funeral home on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Free Methodist Church Child Care Fund and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
