Martha Austin

Martha Evelyn Combs Austin, age 79, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away at Livingston Manor, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, March 18, 2010. She was born on December 21, 1930, the daughter of Errett Tyler and Nell Emery (Ashley) Combs in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a 1948 graduate of South West High School. She graduated from Monticello College in 1950 and from Kansas University in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. Martha worked for the Division of Family Services and Division of Aging for over twenty years. She was a member of Alpha Phi, DAR, Grace Episcopal Church, Livingston County Republican Woman's organization, licensed Missouri Realtors and Licensed Missouri Nursing Home Administrators. She is survived by one daughter; Wendy Austin, of Chillicothe, Missouri; two cousins; Evelyn Pitts of Portsmouth, England and John Marnoch, of Writtle, England, a nephew and two nieces; Bill, Jill and Tana Akers. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Dr. George Hamilton Combs and Martha Miller Stapp Combs. Services will be on Monday, March 22, 2010, at the Grace Episcopal Church, Chillicothe, Missouri at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Burial will be in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Lake Hubert Scholarship Fund, Grace Episcopal Church or Hedrick Hospice and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
