Marlan F. Kepner, age 66, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Marlan was born on September 18, 1944, in Brookfield, Missouri. He was born the son of Francis and Mae (Weber) Kepner. He was a 1962 graduate from Northwestern at Mendon, Missouri. On May 17, 1969, he married Sharon Lea Williams in Marceline, Missouri. Marlan worked as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service in Kansas City, Missouri and Dallas, Texas between the years of 1970 and 1992. Marlan loved sports. If he wasn't listening to a game on the radio or television, he was at the ball park, watching his Grandkids games. Marlan was known best by his family and friends for his heart of gold, always thinking of ways to help others. At the Boji Stone Café, which he, his wife, Sharon and Son own, everybody knew him as "Pops". Survivors include his mother, Edna Mae Kepner of Chillicothe, Missouri, wife, Sharon of the home; three sons, Billy and wife Michelle of Chillicothe, Shane and wife Vicki of Arlington, Texas, Brent and Fiancé Lindsay of Rothville, Missouri; one daughter, Saunda and husband, Jim Figg of Hale, Missouri; one sister Brenda and husband Kenneth Lauhoff of Chillicothe, Missouri; sister-in-law Deana Kepner of Chillicothe, Missouri; he is also survived by eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Francis, two brothers, Dennis and Eddy Wayne Kepner, and one grandson, Kenny Daugherty of Grand Prairie, Texas. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. There will be a scheduled family visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call on Tuesday after 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Rothville Cemetery, Rothville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rothville Cemetery Association and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
