Marjorie E. Tompkins Marjorie E. Tompkins, age 96, a resident of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Citizens Memorial Health Care Facility, Bolivar, Missouri. Marjorie was born the daughter of James H. and Jessie (Mowry) McIntosh on September 18, 1915, in Meadville, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Charles W. (Bill) Tompkins on April 21, 1940, in Meadville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 1, 2002. She graduated from Kirksville State Teachers College in 1953, with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Education. She worked as a Teacher for Chillicothe R-II Schools for 43 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Chillicothe, Delta Kappa Gama, Retired Teachers Association, former BPW of Chillicothe, and Chillicothe Campers. Survivors include one son William (Bill) M. Tompkins and wife Carolyn of Bolivar, Missouri; one sister Mrs. Nadene Martens of Chillicothe, Missouri; three grandchildren, Bill Tompkins and wife Carol of Primrose, Nebraska, Jonathan Tompkins and wife Cindy of Olathe, Kansas, Rod Tompkins and Mary Snidow of Meadville, Missouri; fifteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; two nieces, Harriette Ruble of Kansas City, Kansas, Beth Greer of Arvada, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill; one sister Hallie Hufford; one brother J.R. (Dube) McIntosh; one great grandson Michael Allen Tompkins. Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, January 12, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. A family visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call the funeral home on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, from 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. Burial will be held in Meadville Cemetery, Meadville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Summer Playground Association and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
