Margie Adele Mayfield Stout

April 26, 1930 — July 28, 2013

Margie Adele Mayfield Stout Margie Adele Mayfield Stout, age 83, went to sleep at her home in Derby, Kansas, and woke up in Heaven on Sunday, July 28, 2013. Born April 26, 1930 in Waukegan, Illinois, as the only child of Clarence and Adeline Mayfield, she married Jack Stout of Mooresville, Missouri on a Thanksgiving Day, and joins them now in Glory. Margie graduated from Southeast High School in KC as valedictorian in 1948, and began a career that included administrative & office management positions for a variety of organizations. As secretary to the president of UMKC, she was frequently involved in arranging meetings with then State Senator Harry Truman. She assisted in the hiring of Dr. Patricia A. McIlrath, founder of Missouri Repertory Theatre. Margie was also instrumental in the early days of Madden/McFarland Interiors. After a family move to Derby in 1975, she continued at Horton's Furniture, James Oliver M.D., and Craig Shultz Law Firm. An amazingly selfless, compassionate woman, one friend said, "she was always what was good about this world." Margie Stout had a servant's heart and served so many in so many ways. Professionally, she was probably the best secretary anyone's ever had. For the past 8 years, she taught a Bible study for widows in her home, twice a month. Her prayer journal and devotion to it was legendary. She served as a caretaker for her parents and her husband through long illnesses. Margie was a true friend, mentor and role model. She served as daughter, wife, mother, (second mother to some), grandmother and great grandmother. Mostly she served her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And praise God, Margie is enjoying her eternal reward with Him in paradise right now. She is survived by her children, Karen Horton (John) of Frisco, Texas; Steve Stout (Judy) of Mulvane, Kansas; Craig Benton Stout (Kris) of Overland Park, Kansas. Seven Grandchildren: Tabitha Stout of Dallas, Texas; Maggie Butterfield (Arlee) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Nick Stout of Kansas City, Missouri; Katie Gleichman (Joe) of Otis, Kansas; Kelly Gintonio (Matt) of Frisco, Texas; McKenna Stout of Overland Park, Kansas; Cameron Stout of Overland Park, Kansas. She also has two great grandchildren, Madelynne Butterfield and Maylee Butterfield of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1636 Patriot Ave, in Derby, Kansas 67037.
