Margery Josaphine Bennett

Margery J. Bennett, age 92, a former Chillicothe, Missouri resident, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Laurie Care Center in Laurie, Missouri. Margery was born the daughter of Curtis and Jenny June (Wilson) Cline on November 20, 1918 in Whitesville, Missouri. She graduated from King City High School in 1937. On July 3, 1937 she married Leslie V. Bennett in Whitesville, Missouri. He precedes her in death. Mrs. Bennett worked for over thirty years as a bank teller for Citizens Bank and Trust and operated the first drive through teller's window in Chillicothe. She was known to children in the area as the gum lady for the gum she handed out at the window. Margery is survived by one son, Phillip Lee Bennett, Sr. of Laurie, Missouri; one daughter in law, Linda Bennett of Versailles, Missouri; one grandson, Phillip Lee Bennett, Jr., and wife Wendy of Nixa, Missouri and one nephew, Stewart Cline and wife Martha of Sunrise Beach, Missouri. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, W.W. Cline. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call after 9:00 am until 5:00 pm on Friday, November 4, 2011 at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe, Missouri.
