Margaret Elizabeth (Dennis) Adams
Margaret Elizabeth (Dennis) Adams, age 96, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at her home.
Margaret was born on January 3, 1925, in Chillicothe, Missouri, the daughter of George Omar and Florence (Arthaud) Dennis. She was a 1942 graduate of Chillicothe High School and attended Central Methodist College and the University of Missouri, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She worked as an air hostess for Mid-Continent Airlines, based in Kansas City, before returning to Chillicothe. She was married to Charles Goodrich Adams on August 31, 1947. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2008. Margaret was the District Manager of 15 counties in northwest Missouri for the 1970 U.S. Census and later was elected as the Livingston County Public Administrator for 17 years. She also served as a substitute teacher in the Chillicothe R-II school district.
Margaret was an avid bridge player, golf enthusiast, world traveler, gardener, and a tireless community volunteer. She especially enjoyed spending time with her six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She served in leadership positions for various nonprofit organizations, including Operation Help, and her churches, the United Methodist Church and Grace Episcopal Church. She was an election judge for many years. Margaret was a member of Junior Sorosis, active in the Livingston County Republican Party, and was a 50-year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Adams of the home; Sarah Timmons and husband Bill of Denver, Colorado, and Gail Warlick of Nashville, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Millie Knox (Doug), Mandy Paul (James), Ammie Aragon (Mike), Adam Timmons (Lindsay), all of the Denver area, and Katie Nipper (Kevin) and Sam Warlick, all of Nashville; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, and her son-in-law, Dan Warlick.
A private family graveside service will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Forest O.
