Margaret "Peggy" Chapman Margaret "Peggy" Chapman, age 95, a Chillicothe, Missouri resident, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 11, 2017. She was born December 3, 1921, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Rev. David K. Pegues II and Amy Russell Pegues. On June 4, 1947, she married Nolan M. Chapman Jr. who preceded her in death on December 18, 2009. Peggy graduated from Hannibal, Missouri High School, Chillicothe Business College and Missouri University. During World War II, she served 16 months in the United States Marine Corp Women's Reserve where she was stationed at Base Depot, Camp Elliot in San Diego, California. She was Missouri State President of the American Association of University Women, 1963-65. She also served in leadership offices for various organizations. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Chillicothe, P.E.O. Chapter T, Women Marines Association, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Gamma Delta, Republican Women's Club, DAR, American Legion and VFW Auxiliary. Peggy is survived by her sister, Jeanne Pegues Lawing of Kansas City; three nieces, Amy Wilson (Jay) of Kansas City, Margaret Ferrantini of Memphis, Tennessee, and Peggy Diaz (Nick) of Vista, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother David K. Pegues III, Chaplain, USAF; step-mother Mary Miller Pegues; two brothers-in-law James F. Carpenter and William E. Lawing; sister-in-law Gladyce Chapman Carpenter; and nephews James C. Carpenter and Guy Ferrantini. Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe on Monday, April 17, at 11:00 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at the Edgewood Cemetery in Chillicothe.
