Ethel was born a "country girl" in rural Livingston County to George and Elizabeth (Schwab) Davis on April 19, 1913. She graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1931 (the first class to attend all 4 consecutive years in the new high school, and believed she was the last surviving member of that graduating class) and later attended Chillicothe Business College. She married Eddie Anderson on December 22, 1942. After their marriage by a Justice of the Peace in Independence, Eddie went to his shift at an airplane plant in Kansas, and Ethel went to her shift at Lake City Ammunition Plant. This marriage was blessed with three children, David, Dannie, and Janene. Eddie preceded her in death on January 18, 1988. They were married 47 years. She and Eddie loved playing cards with friends, and traveling to visit Janene and son-in-law, Mike McBride, at his military duty stations around the world. She was an avid vegetable and flower gardener, loved canning food, picking blackberries and making jelly, sewing quilts, afghans, embroidering towels, working puzzles and making wonderful loving memories with her children and their families. She was passionate about preserving family history through genealogy research and exploration of old cemeteries. She and Eddie loved to fish and entertained many friends in Chillicothe with "fish fries". She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, and the Order of the Easter Star, where she served as District Deputy Grand Matron at the age of 98. Survivors include one son, David Anderson of Bristow, Oklahoma; one daughter, Janene and husband Mike of Chillicothe, Missouri; Dannie died in a car accident in 1961. Survivors also include four grandchildren, (Richard Anderson died in a car accident in 1991), Ray Anderson (CeCe), Michele McBride Briggs (Stacy), Jennifer McBride McLean (Shawn), and Mason McBride (Gladys); sixteen great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous generations of cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dannie; grandson, Richard; brother, Archie; sisters, Eva Pepper, Mary Walker; and Helen Ruth Davis; and twin brothers (stillborn).
