Mabel Jaunita (Clevenger) Blevins, age 85, a resident of South Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Braymer, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019, at the Belton Medical Regional Center.
Mabel was born the daughter of Owen and Naomi (McLallen) Clevenger on February 14, 1934, in Braymer, Missouri. She was a 1951 graduate of Braymer High School. Mabel worked as bookkeeper for Grandview United Methodist Church. She spent the rest of her time as a homemaker. She was united in marriage to Lyndell Leroy Blevins on June 9, 1957, in Cowgill, Missouri. He preceded her in death on Tuesday, July 19, 2016. Mabel was a founding member of the Missouri Association of Children with Learning Disabilities. She was also a member of the Grandview United Methodist Church. As an advocate, she improved and sustained the quality of life for people with intellectual disabilities.
Jaunita is survived by two sons, Mark Blevins of Harrisonville, Missouri, Rex and wife Misty of Peculiar, Missouri; two sisters, Lois Cassidy of Blue Springs, Missouri, Glenn Hutchinson of Green Valley, Arizona; three grandchildren, Adam Blevins of Kansas City, Missouri, Benjamin Blevins of Peculiar, Missouri, Caitlin Blevins of Peculiar, Missouri. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Donald Clevenger, Leroy Clevenger, Jack Clevenger, and Robert "Bob" Clevenger; and two sisters, Willie Kelly, and Darlene Coale.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be held at the Cowgill Cemetery, Cowgill, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grandview United Methodist Church and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
