Lyla Gail Cockrell, a resident of Braymer, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer, Missouri. She was born October 17, 1934, in Olathe, Kansas, the daughter of Leslie and Elsie Faye (Ramsey) Barker. On September 6, 1953, at the First Baptist Church in Olathe, Kansas, she was united in marriage to Robert "Sid" Cockrell. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Braymer. Survivors include her husband Sid Cockrell of Braymer, Missouri; three sons, Robert Alan and Larry Jay, both of Braymer, Missouri, and Gary Ray of St. Joseph; six daughters, Cindi Goddard of Braymer, Missouri, Gay Lynn Stark of Mercer, Missouri, Meri Hughes and husband Ron of Braymer, Missouri, Melody Lewis and husband Chip of New Church, Virginia, Laurie Abbott of Smithville, Missouri, and Kathy Mullin of Kansas City, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
