Luzenia Mae Arthaud

June 13, 1920 — May 25, 2021

Luzenia Mae Arthaud
Luzenia Mae Arthaud, age 100, a resident of Wheeling, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, Kansas.
Luzenia was born the daughter of Vahl Allen and Oweda (Harvey) Clawson on June 13, 1920, in Laclede, Missouri. She was a 1937 graduate of Brookfield High School. She was united in marriage to Clarence Arthaud on December 18, 1940, in Brookfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 30, 2014. Luzenia was a member of the Wheeling Baptist Church, Wheeling, Missouri, where she taught Sunday school and was a Girls Auxiliary leader. She was a member of 4-H from the age of 9 until she graduated high school at the age of 16. She received the Extension Leaders Honor Roll award in 2011 from Livingston County. She is a 50-year member of the National Extension Homemakers Association and was president of the New York Extension Club in Wheeling, Missouri. In 2008, Luzenia received recognition for her 55 years of service as a volunteer for Livingston County 4-H. She was an expert sewer and baker and enjoyed teaching those skills to others.
More than anything, Luzenia Mae was a mother figure to her younger siblings and their families, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and the innumerable kids who participated in Sunday school at Wheeling Baptist Church, GAs, and 4-H for over 50 years. She did genealogy research in her spare time and literally wrote the book on the Clawson family. She had a knack for organization and loved to host large family reunions. Everything had a specific place and process that she would readily tell you. When she wasn't teaching or caring for friends and family, Luzenia loved to garden and grow flowers. She had multiple bird feeders and enjoyed watching the birds from her kitchen window. She traveled whenever life allowed it and always made a trip to see each family member's new house when they moved so she could visualize them at home when they talked.
Over the 100 years of her life she saw many changes, including the transition to indoor plumbing, electricity, and the internet. When given the choice, she opted for an automatic washer and dryer instead of an additional room for the house. She was not afraid of new technologies and mastered her computer, scanner, and cell phone. Throughout her many years, the two constants in her life were her faith and her family. She will be deeply missed by many.
Survivors include one son, Darrell Eugene Arthaud and wife Kay of Galva, Kansas; four grandchildren, Marne Arthaud-Day and husband Brian of Manhattan, Kansas, Nicole Marsh and husband Kevin of Novi, Michigan, Eric Arthaud and wife Lydia of Shawnee, Kansas, and Andrea Sharp of Tonganoxie, Kansas; six great grandchildren, Reagan, Noah, Elizabeth, Alyssa, Koen, and Holden; four brothers, Ronnie Clawson and wife Julie of Warrensburg, Missouri, Jerry Clawson of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida, Bobby Clawson and wife Pat of Brookfield, Missouri, and Dickie Clawson and wife Trudy of Brookfield, Missouri; and one sister, Neva Wombwell and husband Bob of Brookfield, Missouri. Additional survivors include, Joyce Cashatt who was like a daughter to her, and Cory and Staci Surber who are co-farmers and part of the extended family.
