Lucille I. Sims, age 97, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri, on Sunday, May 23, 2010. She was born on December 28, 1912, the daughter of Lon and Stella (Bishop) Hughes in Humansville, Missouri. On March 2, 1929, she married Oscar Sims in Stockton, Missouri. He preceded her in death. She worked as a seamstress for Nelly-Don Clothing Factory in Kansas City, Missouri for over thirty years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Brunswick, Georgia. She is survived by one son Dale Sims and daughter-in-law Sherry, of Avalon, Missouri; a daughter-in-law Judy Sims of St. Simons Island, Georgia; two sisters-in-law Mary Hughes of Humansville, Missouri and Betty Williams of Stockton, Missouri; four grandchildren, Rick Sims and wife Debbie of Bethalto, Illinois, Russ Sims and wife Barbara of Effingham, Illinois, Donald Sims and wife Heather of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Sarah Osborn of Austin, Texas; two step-grandchildren Tommy Duncan of Marshall, Missouri, Marti Claud of Carrollton, Missouri; and nine great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son Wayne Sims, three brothers Harold, Floyde and Kenneth Hughes, and two sisters Lavone Kennen and Maxine Cauthon. Services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Lee's Summit Cemetery, Lee's Summit, Missouri at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call after 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Avalon Community Center and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
