Angie Lois "Jean" Denton, age 85, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Indian Hills - A Stonebridge Community.
Jean was born the daughter of Joseph C. and Alma Juanita (Mackley) Gillespie on March 22, 1935, in Chillicothe, Missouri. She was a 1953 graduate of St. Joseph's Academy. She was united in marriage to Bernie Denton on June 20, 1955, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2016. Jean worked as a clerk at Savage Grocery Store, a day care provider, Marshfield Homes, and at the Wonder Bread store. She was a member of St. Columban Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Survivors include one son, Doug Denton and wife Monica, of Chillicothe, Missouri; one daughter, Jolita Ward and husband Randy of Chula, Missouri; eight grandchildren; Brady Ward, Drew Ward, Cody Denton, Penny Denton, Spencer Ward, Brad Sackrey, Tessa Sackrey-Coffman, and Cody Sackrey; and eight great grandchildren; Raelee Ward, Keeley Ward, Reece Denton, Joel Denton, Ike Denton, Ryker Powell, Emmy Ward, and Hank Ward. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea Denton; parents; husband, Bernie Denton; one sister, Pearl June "Peggy" Koch; and one brother, Joseph C. Gillespie II.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Columban Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. A private family Parish Rosary will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial will be held at the St. Columban Catholic Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Hogan Memorial School and/or St. Columban Catholic Church and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
