Linda Ruth Hamlet, age 75, a resident of Ludlow, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at her daughter's home in Dawn, Missouri.
Linda R. Hamlet was born southwest of Dawn on a farm near Shoal Creek on August 20, 1946, and was the daughter of Evelyn Elizabeth Johnson and Gene Hughes. She was raised by her grandparents, Walter and Alice Johnson. She was a 1964 graduate of Southwest High School.
On May 8, 1964, she married George W. Hamlet of Ludlow, Missouri.
She was a member of the Dawn Baptist Church. Linda lived most of her life in Dawn, Carrollton, and Ludlow areas.
Through the years, she had worked at Banquet Foods in Carrollton, Missouri, and worked as a waitress at Taster's Choice, Strand Hotel, Northside Restaurant, and the Chillicothe Sale Barn. She also drove a truck with her husband. She was a caregiver to her mother, mother-in-law, and husband.
She enjoyed volunteering at the Grand River Multi-Purpose Center while her daughter was the Administrator there. She loved dancing on Friday Nights at the Center and at the Eagles occasionally on Saturday nights and being with her friends.
Linda was diagnosed in July 2020 with ALS. She was a strong-willed lady who fought a good fight to the very end. She enjoyed spending time with all of her family. She has enjoyed watching all of her great grandchildren grow and play. She loved spending time with all of her sisters and she looked forward to their lake trips together.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia and husband Thomas Ireland of Dawn, Missouri, and Dawn and husband Franklin Arnold of Madison, Missouri; five grandsons, Jared and wife Whitney Ireland of Dawn, Missouri, Zachary and wife Morgan Ireland of Chillicothe, Missouri, Austin Ireland of Dawn, Missouri, Anthony and Bethany Arnold of Wichita, Kansas, and David and Cassidy Arnold of Columbia, Missouri; two granddaughters, Brittany and Cade Shiflett of Meadville, Missouri, and Shelby Arnold of Madison, Missouri; and great grandchildren, Cedar, Sager, Sammie, Cain of Dawn, Missouri, Finnigan, Oaklee, Owen, and Berklee Ireland all of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Ireland and Archie Shiflett of Meadville, Missouri. Additional survivors include, two brothers, Jimmy Sensenich and wife Sharon of Mooresville, Missouri, Larry and Libby Hughes of Carrollton Missouri; six sisters, Katie Tisu and husband John of Kimberling City, Missouri, Betty Minnis and husband Clifford of Dawn, Missouri, and Shirley Murray and husband Bob of Braymer, Missouri, Connie DeWeese and husband Ben of Ludlow, Missouri, Deana McCoy of Carrollton, Missouri, and Jeana Darrah and husband Marty of Cowgill, Missouri; one aunt, Bonnie Ruth Pierce of Chillicothe, Missouri (Linda's namesake). Linda also leaves behind her boyfriend, Larry Raymo of Jamesport, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Hamlet; brother, Donnie Joe Hughes; brother-in-law, Melvin Hamlet; sister-in-law, Sandra Sue Schmidt; mother-in-law, Sarah Wisely Hamlet; mother, Evelyn Sensenich; grandparents, Walter and Alice Johnson; three uncles, John, Lyle, and Wayne Johnson; one aunt, Dorothy Karnes; one great grandson, Coy Edward Ireland; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on, Friday, October 15, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held at Monroe Cemetery, Ludlow, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in memory of her great grandson, Coy Edward Ireland, and/or the Grand River Multi-Purpose Center and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
