Leta Lynn Doetzl Leta Doetzl, age 94, a resident of Kansas City, Missouri, former resident of Chillicothe, Missuri, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013, at Evergreen Community, Olathe, Kansas. Leta was born the daughter of Harry and Mary (Cunningham) Hughes on December 4, 1918, in Avalon, Missouri. Leta graduated from Avalon High School, Avalon, Missouri in 1937. She was united in marriage to Joseph Doetzl on December 27, 1943, at the St. Columban's Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1968. Leta was a member of the St. Columban's Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, until 2004 when she moved to Kansas City, Missouri. While living in Kansas City she became a member of the St. Therese Catholic Church. Leta was actively involved in the Altar Society. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking, canning, and gardening. Survivors include three sons, George Doetzl and partner Ruth of Kansas City, Missouri, Frank Doetzl of Olathe, Kansas, and Jim Doetzl and partner Joe of Liberty, Missouri; four daughters, Teresia Cobb and husband Bill of Overland Park, Kansas, Janie Brown and husband Jim of Paola, Kansas, Rita Goodman of Kansas City, Missouri, and Barbara Biven and husband Willis of Greenwood, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph; one sister Lillian Catherine; one brother Charles Hughes; and two sons, Lawrence and Charles Doetzl. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Columban's Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. A Parish Rosary will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Monday, July 22, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. with a family visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, July 22, 2013 from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at St. Columban's Catholic Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Columban's Catholic Church and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
