Lester Eugene Campbell
Lester Eugene Campbell, age 94, a resident of Braymer, Missouri, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018, at Valley Manor Nursing Center, Excelsior Springs, Missouri.
Lester was born on November 16, 1924, in St. Clair County, Missouri, the son of Clarence and Ada (Wicks) Campbell. He was a 1943 graduate of Lowry City High School. He was united in marriage to Cornelia Williams on February 14, 1959, in Independence, Missouri. She preceded him in death on January 2, 1998. Lester served his country in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943 until 1946, where he received two letters of accommodation, and earned seven battle stars. After being discharged from the service, he attended the University of Missouri Columbia from 1946 until 1950. Lester worked at the Leeds Chevrolet Plant in Kansas City, Missouri, from 1950 until 1952. His heart called him back to the farm, where he raised corn, soybeans, and cows for more than 40 years in Braymer, Missouri. Lester lived a long and blessed life. He was a member of the Braymer United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Lesta Jean Campbell of Kansas City, Missouri; four sisters, Gladys Babcock of Ozark, Missouri, Nadine (Jim) Irvin of Clinton, Missouri, Betty Sue (Kent) Thoeni of Leawood, Kansas, Barb (Ron) Clevenger of Carrollton, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, and six step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cornelia, of 38 years; five brothers, Jasper, Luther, Clarence, Chester, and Billy; and three sisters, Goldie, Mary Jane, and Laura Maxine.
Funeral services will be held at the Braymer United Methodist Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Braymer United Methodist Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Saturday, January 5, 2019, one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Friday, January 4, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri.
