Leanord Johnson Leanord Johnson, age 89, a resident of Dawn, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015, at the Missouri Veterans Home, Cameron, Missouri. Leanord Johnson was born in Grants County, MN, on June 27, 1926. He was the son of Oscar and Agnus (Ostlund) Johnson. On Aug 12, 1949 he married Betty Lou Perkins. He went to grade school in Pomme de Terre MN, High School in Elbow Lake MN. He enlisted in the United States Army September 18, 1944, and was assigned to the 40th Div. 108th Inf. He trained at Gladewater, TX, and saw action in the Pacific and the Philippines. When the war ended, he served six months in the Military Occupation as Administrative Sergeant in Korea. He was separated at Ft. Sheridan, IL, on November 5,1946. His Qualifications included Com. Inf. Badge, SSMI Riffle. His medals included Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon w/1 Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon w. 1 Bronze Star, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Arrowhead, and Army of Occupation Medal Japan. After leaving the Army he took a Mechanics course in Elbow Lake, MN. Waiting to get into Central Electronics in Kansas City. He graduated from Central in June of 1949 with a Degree and Second and First Class FCC license. He worked at White Corporation Plant as electronics maintenance at Charles City, Iowa. They lived in Clear Lake, IA for three years. They bought a farm south of Dawn, MO. Leanord built all the buildings including remodeling the house and set out all of the trees with help from his wife and three sons. They sold the farm in 1982 and moved to Black Forest, CO, where he worked repairing electrical tools. They moved back to the farm in south Dawn, MO, December 1988. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church serving on the council as president, elder and Chairman of the Building Committee for building the Education Building. Survivors include three sons and daughter in-laws. Randy and Tammy, Kelso, WA, Bob and Janet, Kearny, MO, Allen and Linda, Woodland Park, CO and four grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Haley and Zena, as well as one brother, two sisters and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, December 4, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, December 3, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, December 3, 2015, from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri.
