Leona Clevenger Leona Clevenger, age 93, a resident of Braymer, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Hedrick Medical, Chillicothe, Missouri. Leona was born the daughter of Willis and Jessie (Cravens) Elam on September 3, 1920, in St. Joseph, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Donald D. Clevenger on October 29, 1939, in Braymer, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1997. Leona and her husband Donald D. owned and operated the Highland Service Station and Café near Meadville, prior to moving to Big Lake in 1968, where they operated Clevenger's Big Lake Drive-In, until 1975. Survivors include two sons, Terry L. Clevenger and Debra of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Lyndell Clevenger and wife Janice of Laredo, Missouri; one sister Betty McVey and husband Bob of Juneau, Alaska; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald D. Clevenger; one daughter, Doneta Cornell and son-in-law Bill Cornell; two sons, Paul Clevenger and Ronald Mack Clevenger; two sisters, Dorothy Reger and Katherine Smith; and two brothers, Tom Elam and Billy Gene Elam who died serving our country in World War II. Services will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. A family visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Black Oak Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Black Oak Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
