Lena "Frances" Arr, age 89, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2011 at her daughter's residence in Chillicothe. Frances was born the daughter of Norman and Winnie (Bowe) Gillespie on January 19, 1922 in Chula, Missouri. On November 16, 1940 she was united in marriage to Earl Arr in Chillicothe, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1987. She lived in Chula, Missouri all of her life and moved to Chillicothe in 1998. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Chula, Missouri and the Ladies Church Group. She loved gardening and crossword puzzles and was an avid reader of westerns. She is survived by two sons, Leroy Arr and wife Sharon of Chillicothe, Missouri; and Gary Arr of Chillicothe, Missouri; one daughter, Karen Smith of Chillicothe, Missouri; one sister, Lela Samm of Macon, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Lois Gillespie of Chillicothe, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Doug Arr and wife Misty of Chillicothe, Missouri, Kristi Killingsworth and husband Mickey of Afton, Oklahoma, Tammy Smith and Cynthia Gettel both of Hamilton, Missouri; Rodney Smith and wife Sherry of Davenport, Iowa, Nicole Cain and husband Chris of Holt, Missouri, Cody Arr of Kansas City, Missouri; seven great-grandchildren, Dakota and Makinna Arr of Chillicothe, Missouri, Chelsie Smith of Springfield, Missouri, Brandon and Austin Smith of Kansas City, Missouri, Tyler Cain of Holt, Missouri, and Brittany Stewart of Kansas City, Missouri; three great-great-grandchildren, Emma, Christopher, and Conner Stewart all of Kansas City, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; one brother, Bill Gillespie; one son, Charles Arr; and brother-in-law, Ray Samm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. A family visitation will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Friends may call the funeral home on Sunday from 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri.
