Lawrence Rudolph Schneider
Lawrence Rudolph Schneider, age 100, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Lawrence was born the son of Rudolf and Mary Elizabeth "Mabel" (Cummings) Schneider on April 18, 1921, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1942 until 1945, during World War II. Lawrence was united in marriage to Doris Elizabeth Holm of Chillicothe, on August 3, 1941, in Los Angeles, California. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2014. He worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1975. Lawrence was a lifetime member of St. Columban Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. He became an Ordained Deacon in 1977, and served the Parish for 25 years. He worked diligently teaching Baptism classes, CCD, and helping Priests whenever needed. Lawrence enjoyed driving the school bus for Bishop Hogan student's sports events and youth groups. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he often made his father's homemade chili for his lifetime friends. Lawrence was dedicated to the Chillicothe community. He was instrumental in establishing Operation Help and worked with other clergy to form the food bank. He enjoyed raising Beagles and training them for hunting. Lawrence was an avid and accomplished Snooker player. His favorite pastimes and hobbies include fishing and hunting, and of course fried squirrel was his very favorite. He taught his grandchildren and great grandchildren to hunt and fish. He spent many hours at Hy-Vee drinking coffee with his longtime friends. Lawrence was very fortunate to have celebrated his 100th birthday on April 18, 2021.
Survivors include one son, John Schneider and wife Kerry of Chillicothe, Missouri; two daughters, Nicole Davis of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Debbie Englert and husband Mark of Chillicothe, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris Schneider; two infant sons; two brothers; and five sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Columban Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, June 21, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, June 20, 2021, from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at St. Columban Catholic Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
