Lauren Michele Way, age 37, a resident of Lee's Summit, Missouri, a former resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at her residence.
Lauren was born the daughter of Stephen Way and Paula (Meek) Way Roberts on July 26, 1984, in Springfield, Missouri. She was a 2003 graduate of Chillicothe High School. After graduation, she attended Graceland University. She then attended Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical and Health Education in 2008. She then earned her Master's Degree in Physical and Health Education from the University of Central Missouri, in Warrensburg, Missouri. Lauren was currently working on her degree in Education Administration from the University of Northern Arkansas.  She worked at William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri, for 8 years, where she was a very successful girls' softball coach. Most recently, Lauren was in her 6th year of teaching at Raymore-Peculiar, where she was coaching girls' softball, which was her true love and passion, and this was also her first year serving as head softball coach. While at Raymore-Peculiar, she also coached basketball, soccer, and track. She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Survivors include her mother, Paula Roberts and husband Randy of Chillicothe, Missouri; her father, Stephen Way and wife Deborah of Parkville, Missouri; one brother, Tyler Way and husband Chris of San Diego, California; one stepbrother, Tanner Roberts of Chillicothe, Missouri; two stepsisters, Tasha Benton of Kansas City, Missouri, and child, Trory Moore, and Madison Benton of Kansas City, Missouri, and children, Rush Roberts and Quincy Roberts; maternal grandfather, Larry Meek of Chillicothe, Missouri; aunts, Julie Harper and husband Heath of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Debbie Johnson and husband Robert of Kearney, Missouri; uncles, Kevin Way and wife Becky of Parkville, Missouri, Tim Way and wife Lori of Parkville, Missouri, Mitchell Way and wife Georgia of Cowgill, Missouri, and Andy Way and wife De Nae of Liberty, Missouri; cousin, Austin Busse and wife Madison of Chillicothe, Missouri, and their children, Bristol and Jett; and adoptive parents, Brian and Deanne Pence of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jack and Dolores Way; and maternal grandmother, Deanna Meek.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. The family asks that you wear your favorite sports apparel to the funeral service. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Raymore-Peculiar Girls Softball Team and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
