Laura Nell Kelly Laura Nell Kelly, age 89, a resident of Braymer/Plymouth Community, rural Carroll County, MO died April 14, 2014, at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, MO. Laura Nell was born February 2, 1925, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Miles and Ethel (Conner) Zumbrunnen. She was a 1943 graduate of Braymer High School, Braymer, Missouri. On March 26, 1946, she married Leo Kelly of Braymer, MO. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1994. She was a member of the Plymouth Methodist Church and after the church closed, attended the Enon Baptist Church with her family. Laura Nell grew up in the Esterville, Braymer, New York and Bonanza areas during the depression years. Laura Nell worked at Sears, Kansas, City, MO during World War II and was a homemaker after her marriage, living in the Plymouth Community. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with her family. The granddaughters and great grandsons always knew where to go for a "treat". She enjoyed making special holiday cakes for her granddaughters and great grandsons. She was an excellent seamstress, making most of her, her daughters and granddaughters clothing. She was a superb hostess and made sure that her guests; both family and friends were well taken care of. You would never leave her table hungry, as she always cooked enough food for "Cox's Army". That way she was sure to have something that everyone liked. She always had a large garden and preserved enough food to keep us during the winter. She kept a neat, clean house, took care of her yard and garden, and usually washed the car once a week in the good weather. For the last 54 years she hosted a family get together on Memorial Day to honor the members of the Zumbrunnen family that had passed on. A tradition that will continue. Survivors include one daughter. Shirley Fisher and husband, Gary of rural Braymer, MO. Two granddaughters, Gayle Noah and husband, Kevin of Chillicothe, MO, and Kelly Warren and husband, Stanton of rural Ludlow, MO. Three great grandsons, Patrick Warren, Eli Warren and Grant Warren of rural Ludlow, MO. One sister, Laveta Webb and husband, Richard, of Climax Springs, MO. Sisters-in-law, Marcella Zumbrunnen, of Raytown, MO, Hazel Zumbrunnen of Independence, MO, Betty Zumbrunnen of Spring Hill, KS, and Mary Francis Zumbrunnen of Foley, AL along with many nieces and nephews who spent many happy times at the Kelly farm. One brother-in-law, Randall Kelly and wife, Dorothy, of Dessert Hot Springs, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant sister, Mildred, sister Wilma James and five brothers, Clyde Zumbrunnen, Miles Junior Zumbrunnen, J.T. Zumbrunnen, Donald Zumbrunnen, and Robert Zumbrunnen. Funeral services will be held at the Braymer Baptist Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Friday, April 18, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Braymer Baptist Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Friday, April 18, 2014, one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Thursday, April 17, 2014, from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Senior Dinner at the Braymer Baptist Church and/or American Heart Association and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
