Laura Mae (Smith) Clark, Chillicothe, formerly of Liberty, MO. passed away September 5, 2011. Laura was born daughter of Claud O. and Mildred (Millsap) Smith on October 11, 1920 in SouthMayd, Texas. On September 21, 1941 she married Horace "Chester" Clark in Amarillo, Texas. Laura was a homemaker, hospital volunteer and church worker. She was born and raised in Texas and lived in Oklahoma before and during the War, moving to south Kansas City afterwards. There she was a member of Wornall Road Baptist and an early Training Union leader for WorRoBa, their Baptist mission which later became Holmeswood Baptist Church. Laura was a Girl Scout leader, PTA member and an active member of Liberty Second Baptist Church. She was an early member of Liberty Hospital Auxiliary and served as Gift Shop Buyer and Manager for many years. Laura was an artist and played piano and organ. She was famous for her Mexican food. She traveled in the United States, Europe and Asia. In 1981, Laura and her husband, H. Chester Clark, dedicated one year to missionary work at a large orphanage in Seoul, South Korea. She devoted 6 years to the care of her daughter who suffered from multiple sclerosis. Laura also cared for her mother and father-in-law making it possible for them to remain in the home. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, H. Chester Clark, Chillicothe, formerly of Liberty, daughter Gerri Clark Imm, grandson Louis Clark-Imm, both of Liberty, grandson Aaron Imm, KCMO, Granddaughter Melissa Cantore, Maryland, nephew Ben Clark, Texas, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter, Nancy Clark, grandsons, Chris Duncan and Nathan Imm and sister, Billye Holmes of Texas.
