Larry G. Owens, age 73, a resident of Gladstone, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at NorthCare Hospice House, North Kansas City, Missouri.
Larry was born the son of Gerald Owens and Marjorie (Mallett) Olson on June 28, 1947, in Trenton, Missouri. He was a 1965 graduate of Laredo High School. He attended University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, Missouri. Larry served in the United States Army for four years, and was stationed in Germany for 3 of those years. He worked for Donaldson Company, Chillicothe, Missouri, for several years. Larry then worked as a computer technician for Social Security Administration for many years, until his retirement in 2009.
Survivors include his mother, Marjorie Olson of Trenton, Missouri; one son, Corey Owens of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one daughter, Amy Owens of Kearney, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Halee Walker, Autumn Owens, Bailey Owens, Landon Oliphant, Brogan Owens, Kaison Oliphant, and Maylene Owens; and two cousins, Punky Owens and Sissy Owens both of Laredo, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Christopher Ryan Owens; one grandson, Bryce Walker; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Gladys Mallett; and three uncles, Roy Mallett, Ronnie Owens, and Jimmy Owens.
Graveside services will be held at Richardson Cemetery, Laredo, Missouri, on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. There is no scheduled visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to NorthCare Hospice and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
