Larry Littrell

December 7, 1947 — July 5, 2010

Avid local horseman, Larry Littrell of Chillicothe, Missouri passed away on July 5, 2010 at 12:30 a.m. of complications related to his battle with pancreatic cancer. Larry loved horses and living the life of a cowboy. He enjoyed all aspects of being around and dealing with horses and horse and rodeo people. He spent the better part of his life on the back of a horse breaking and training countless numbers of them to ride, rein, and rope for himself and others. Many hours were also spent in the practice pen improving his roping skills for competition in the roping and rodeo arena. As a professional farrier he also spent many, many hours under a horse trimming and shoeing them with great pride and care. Larry, along with his most favorite companion and roping mare of thirty years, "Day Money" won numerous prizes, buckles, and saddles including championships in Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, the United Rodeo Association, and the Missouri Rodeo Cowboys Association. Larry Max Littrell was born on December 7, 1947 in Chillicothe, Missouri to the parents of Max and Mary Ann Littrell. He was a 1965 graduate of Chillicothe High School. He was a professional farrier and horse trainer his entire life and spent ten years as a production manager for Script Pro. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Leon and Opal Littrell, and John and Mary Hayen and his father, Max. Survivors include his very best friend who loved and took great care of him the last few years of his life, Mary Stimpson of the home; his beloved mother, Mary Ann Littrell of Chillicothe, Missouri; two brothers with whom he shared the love of horses and roping, Randy and friend Debbie Walker of Macon, Missouri, and Jim and sister-in-law Lori Littrell of Elizabeth, Colorado as well as a very special stepson, Dakotah Bartholomew of Lee's Summit, Missouri. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom he loved very much including Lindsay Lidge and her husband, Brad, daughter Avery, and son Rowan of Castle Rock, Colorado; Kelly Alexander and husband, Josh and son Mason of Richland, Missouri; Matthew and wife Samantha of Lone Tree, Colorado; and Cody Littrell and wife, Mendy, daughter Gracie, and stepson Tryston. Other survivors include many aunts, uncles, and cousins that were also very special to him. Larry will be greatly missed by all of his family as well as all of those in the horse and rodeo world who knew him. To all of us he was a champion in and out of the arena and we pray his entry fees have been "paid in full" and that now all his tie down runs are smooth and bobble-free and his team roping runs are fast and clean.
