Larry Ray Guilford

Larry Ray Guilford, age 69, a resident of Hale, Missouri passed away at his home on Monday, February 15, 2010. He was born on September 23, 1940, in Hale, Missouri, on the family farm, the son of Ray "Dick" and Mildred (Oden) Guilford. He was a 1958 graduate of Hale High School in Hale, Missouri. On December 15, 1962 he married Charlene Jewell at the First Baptist Church in Chillicothe, Missouri. She survives of the home. Larry lived his entire life in Livingston County, Missouri. He farmed and worked as a boilermaker for the International Brotherhood of Boilmakers Local 83 in Kansas City, Missouri for almost 40 years. He retired from farming in 1993 and boilermaking in 2005. He loved raising and showing cattle as well as playing cards. Anyone that knew Larry knew he was quite the storyteller, enjoyed telling jokes, and making people laugh. Survivors also include three daughters, Kim Wray of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Stephanie Shockey and husband Dan of Chillicothe, Missouri, Hollie Burnside and husband Cory of Hale, Missouri; one brother, Richard Guilford of Hale, Missouri; one sister, Carol Lineberry of Lee's Summit, Missouri; five grandchildren and two step grandchildren, Christy Todd of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Tyler Todd of Springfield, Missouri, Chelsea Prall of Springfield, Missouri, Karter Burnside of Hale, Missouri, Harris Burnside of Hale, Missouri, Brent Shockey of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Michelle Ray of Hale, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray "Dick" and Mildred Guilford, and one sister, Glenda. Services will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Lindley Funeral Home in Hale, Missouri at 10:00 a.m. There will be a family visitation on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home in Hale, Missouri. Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Hale, Missouri. Burial will be held in Lakeside Cemetery in Sumner, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Larry Guilford Memorial Fund for the Chillicothe & Hale 4H and FFA Chapters and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601. Arrangements are under the direction of Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri.
